Tx Palmers

Christmas Countdown & MySpace Layouts

So sorry for not posting for so long. Life gets busy this time of year.
Here are a few photos of the kids prior to and during Thanksgiving.
C got to dress as a pilgrim and celebrate Plymouth day at school and later dress as an indian for a school wide thanksgiving feast. N's class had a feast too, but I was not allowed to stay long or take pictures. :) there were no costumes at that one either:)
C is also taking dance again this year. She is fortunate to have her best friend S in her class too. In this picture they are doing the "Turkey Tango" which is so cute to see.(note the feathers around their waists)
And finally the ceremonial breaking of the "wishbone" on Thanksgiving. It was all peace and smiles prior to breaking it, however, since N is more experienced and likes to make a big deal out of studying the bone to get the right angle, C lost and disolved into tears when she did not get the "right" side.
I will plan better next year!!!

The long awaited Daddy Daughter dance

Well, it finally arrived. The Country Club held it's first Daddy Daughter dance and the Palmers' were both very excited to go. C's good friend Jenna and her little sister also attended to add to the fun for C.
C had been practicing all of her social graces for weeks before hand, and it was finally held last night. C thought she'd surprise Daddy with a boutineer(sp) and Daddy surprised her back with amatching precious pink rose writst coursage. She was just beeming, but then again, so was he. :)
N and I had a nice time together as well. We went to Quizno's and watched a movie at home. Lots of good memories for all of us. Bob is totally exausted by the experience. He said he danced more last night then in the 20 years that I have known him. ;)

Takin' one for the team!

Today at Nick's baseball game, Nick got hit by a wild pitch.
He went down hard, but got on base. And now he's got a baseball size welt on his leg to show off.

This was C's haul of candy from last nights trick or treating. It will take ages to eat all of this!

Our little Halloweeners

Well here they are. Our precious little darlings. One is adorned in all her genie finery and the other is, well...invisible.(I told you you wouldn't see him!)
I made him wear a glow stick down his back so he wouldn't get hit by a car tonight. What ever happened to the days of cowboys and firefighters? ;) Oh well...Happy Halloween everyone!

Halloween is here!

The finished product!

As the action happens.... C decorates a pumpkin that has already been carved. But is so into it she does not even care. N is out playing with friends and is totally over the carving pumpkin experience. You will not even see him in a photo. You will see why in the next post.

Let the Halloween Fun Begin!

Caroline had her first Storybook parade at school this morning. She chose to dress up as a genie. The idea is to dress as a character from a favortie book. C has no books about girl genies but insisted on the costume. Thus mom serched to world over for a book about a girl genie. I found one that is out of print, and by the grace of God, the library had one copy left. Problem solved!! She really looks cute in the costume too. Here is also a picture of her friends from her class. for those of you that have heard about her friend Tyger Lily(no joke), she's the one second from the left.

Apple Girl

Caroline had an opportunity to dip and desing her own carmel apple at the grocery store this weekend. It came home with a few more decorations than it has in this picture. She got to it before I was able to snap a picture. Notice the guilty grin on her precious little face. ;) I could eat her up.

Kids for sale!

No I wasn't mad at them or they at me.

They picked these signs up at Wal-mart as I was engrossed in my shopping and were standing there when I finally looked up. They are a riot and a joy!

So I snapped a picture. ;)

We're back

Well folks we made it to the other side unscathed but more appreciative of electircity and suppliers of ice! We lost power around 5am the morning of the hurricane and it just returned last night. (Sat.-Thurs.) We have friends and people not to far away from us that are still without these things. God blessed us with minimal damage. We had nothing more than tree branches everywhere. Our neighbors were not as lucky. Several friends had trees in and across there pools, against and in their houses and across fences. The first picture of the streets was the evening after the hurricane blew in. What a mess. For those of you not familar with where we live, it is in a forest. Ike had a blast with the trees here. Not a road for miles didn't have a tree or eight laying across it. Chainsaws have been blazing trails.

C was bound and determined to help our neighbors get there tree to stand up again.
To no avail, but valiant effort!
The pile of debris is so common here right now. Every house has nothing smaller than what C is standing next to at the curb. FEMA is in charge of getting it moved out so we may be decorating it for Christmas! ;)
N is not in any pictures I have so far in my camara during the last week due to the wonderful fact that all the children in our neighborhood have been outside playing and not on the computer or X-Box!!!!

Well here is the sunset I mentioned in the last post. The photo really dose not do it justice.
It was amazing!
The strange photo with the sleeping bags is C's idea. I told them they could sleep in our closet because it is the safest place during a storm.
C went with it and made this arrangement as soon as she woke up this morning! She'll make a great Girl Scout someday!
The last photo was taken by C this evening. It is a cross made by C that we hung on our back door.
It really sums up who is in control!!!
Pray for us. We'll see the storm around 3am central time. I'll post again with the "after" pics. as soon as I can. Blessings!!

The Calm before the storm

All is currently well. The kids had off school day in preperation for Huricanne Ike. They swam and played with friends. Bob even golfed. The sunset I'm looking at now is perfect. But...we know what's coming. We should be in full swing tonight around midnight. C and N are sleeping in our closet! I'll post more later.
Blessings,
A.

And they're off!

Well we are no longer parents of a preschooler. C joined her brother at "big kid" school this week. Mom delt with it very well because C was so happy to go. But I will miss her company. But not the tornado of messes she would leave around the house. ;)
N is now considered in Intermediate school. (aka the upper grades) so he is big man on campus. He has grow to 5'3". He's taller than me on his tiptoes. He loves that. Me not so much!

Coming home from school on her first bus ride.
Loved it!!!

Nick has decided to play the trumpet this year at school.

This was the day he got his new trumpet.

Deer Park petting zoo

White we were visiting B's family, we got to take the kids to a wild animal park. They had bears, elk, tigers, cougers, etc. But by far their favorite thing to see and hold were the baby ducklings.

Blueberry Picking

This past June we went to our local blueberry farm and picked our berries. I have a big blueberry addiction, so I eat more than I pick. Luckily N and C are good pickers and we had enough for cobbler, muffins and pancakes!

August in PA

We just got back from PA for a visit with family and friends.
We were so glad to get to spend time with Britt and Kyle.
They are an amazing couple inspite of their circumstances.
We can't believe how great Kyle is doing. I know that he will only improve. We pray for healing and strength for him each and everyday, and God is obviously answering those prayers.
In this picture we were at the movies to see Wall-e. Lots of fun!

N had an amazing opportunity to go and see an actual Apache helicoptor with his scout den. He had a blast!

This is C wearing her Hannah Montanna wig that she got for Christmas. Her plan is to wear it to the grocery store on this day. She asked me if I would help her spell her name (Hannah Montana) if anyone asked her for an autograph.

As we began to walk out he door, however, she decided that she would go as herself instead. Thank you Lord.

C is a cheerleader!

C cheered her first basketball game this past weekend. We were so proud of her.

She received a sticker after the game for displaying leadership to her squad!! She of course wants to be the "leader" every game now, so next Sat. could be a bit dicy!
